Building relationships with other organizations

Teachers of Engineering face the dual challenge of attracting learners to the subject and retaining their interest and enthusiasm once they have enrolled.
Think about your relationships with schools. You may be able to raise the profile of Engineering and attract learners who might not otherwise have seen it as an attractive option.
There is potential for a mutually beneficial relationship with local employers, too. It could give learners insights into the world of work and open up possibilities.
Visitor attractions and museums often have educational outreach programmes that may be worth exploring. If you find that the offerings are more suitable for younger learners, bear in mind the possibility that this could change. Download CPD builder: Challenging topics and read what the National Space Centre did to attract older learners. You will also find some ideas about competitions that might appeal to you.
