Guide to opening and saving files
Select one of the files listed to open it. It will open using the appropriate application if available. The majority of documents are also held in RTF format so they can be opened and amended in most word processing packages.
Viewing PDFs
Some of the downloads on this website are PDF files. To see these files you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine. If you need to install this plug-in, you can download it from the Acrobat Reader website.
Saving a file
When a file is open, select Save As from the File menu and save it to your hard disk drive.
In some browsers, the files will open in the current window. To return to browsing the website, select the Back button in the browser toolbar.
Guide to downloading and saving video clips
- Choose the format you wish to download (either QuickTime or Windows Media)
- PC users: Right click on the file type icon (QuickTime or Windows) and select 'Save target as ...'
- Macintosh users : Hold down the mouse button on the file type icon (Quicktime) and select 'Download link to...'
You will then receive a dialog box with instruction on how to save your video clip.
If you do not have QuickTime installed on your computer, you can download it from the QuickTime website.
If you do not have Windows Media Player installed on your computer, you can download it from the Windows Media Player website.
Viewing videos and interactive activities
The videos and interactive activities on this website use Adobe Flash Player 8. If you need to install this plug-in, you can download it from the Flash Player website.
Note: Setting your Internet or browser security settings to maximum will stop all ActiveX content (including Flash) from playing.
