CPD activities and approaches

Continuing professional development (CPD) includes a range of activities, not just formal training sessions including industrial visits, secondment or professional updating, team teaching or peer observation, action research, online or remote activities, mentoring or coaching. The Institute for Learning website gives case study examples of how teachers have carried out CPD in a range of different environments.

In many cases, your CPD actions will relate easily to the new professional standards for teachers. You can download these from LLUK's website. But CPD should not be limited only to activities that relate to the professional standards; there are also valid and useful CPD activities that may not relate directly to the standards.
Each module can provide approximately 10 hours CPD and can help you fulfill your CPD requirements. Find out more by clicking on Supporting your CPD.
