How do I use these resources as part of my CPD?

Practising teachers are required to undertake a minimum of 30 hours CPD each year (pro rata for part-time teachers). To help you make the most this opportunity you can use the resources to:
- reflect on your development needs and goals and to create and implement your professional development plan
- explore and experiment with new ideas in your teaching, either individually or through collaboration with colleagues
- evaluate and measure the impact of the outcomes - on your learners, on your own practice and on your organisation
- reflect on the impact of change on your practice
- share, adapt and transfer effective practice.
The Institute for Learning (IfL) six-stage cycle provides an excellent structure with which you can start to identify the activities, actions and thinking that lead to effective CPD. More about the IfL cycle can be found on the Institute for Learning website.
Learning Mathematics in context provides effective ideas and approaches to the teaching and learning of Mathematics in your subject or vocational area. To get the most out of the resources, build the ideas into your professional development plan.
As you explore the resource you will have the opportunity to view the work from other providers. In each case you will be invited to:
- watch the video
- reflect on the video using the prompt questions
- record your thoughts in the reflective notebook.
The reflective notebook is an online tool designed specifically to help you record your responses and ideas as you explore these resources. You can save your notes to your own PC and use them as part of your CPD evidence.
