Working with a colleague

In this section we see Vito, a Curriculum Manager for Electrical Engineering planning a session on SI Units for his learners. He is joined by Annette, who also teaches these learners in key skills Application of Number.

In clip 1 Vito adapts a Mathematics activity by building it into an existing session. In clips 2 and 3, Vito and Annette reflect on the session.

Thinking points

Vito discusses some of the challenges he faces when using questioning. Reflect on your own questioning techniques.

  • Do all your learners get enough time to think through their responses to questions?
  • Are the questions clear?
  • How do you use questioning so that all the learners in the group are challenged appropriately?
  • What aspects do you do well? Where do you think you might be able to improve?
  • Consider setting up some peer observation so that you can explore these issues with a colleague

Use the reflective notebook below to record your thinking.
